Mexican Tostadas

Mexican Tostadas, fried tortillas, is a typical dish anyone can make for holidays, birthdays, or as a meal for any day occasion. The great thing of this dish is even if you have a friend or family member who is a vegetarian they could still enjoy this meal. It consists of vegetables, shredded cheese, smashed or blended beans. Also sour cream, salsa, and meat can be added, it's up to the person's taste. I personally don't eat my tostadas with meat, however I do apply sour cream from the deli and salsa homemade.

Ingredients:

  • A pack of tortillas
  • A can or two of beans
  • Oil
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Radishes
  • Avocado
  • Sour Cream (Optional)
  • Salsa (Optional)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Grab a pan, be conscience of its size, if you only want a few fried tortillas go for a smaller pan but if it's for a group of people go for a bigger pan, such as a disposable tin pan
  2. Place the pan on your stove with low flames
  3. Grab your oil and pour it onto the pan, pour enough for a tortilla to be fully covered
  4. Flip the tortilla with a spoon, fork, knife, or spatula (As you flip the tortilla be careful as to place them because the boiling oil could bounce onto your skin or clothes)
  5. Once the tortilla has hardened place it onto a plate with napkins all over for the grease to be absorbed or use the dish on image and have a plate under for the dripping grease
  6. Wait until the tortillas dry
  7. As you wait, cut out the lettuce, avocado, and tomatoes into small pieces
  8. Slice the radishes, just as in the image shown
  9. Shred the cheese in which you use, I personally use a dried mexican cheese that is actually made in Mexico, if not I use a cheese that is called fresco, which means fresh
  10. As you come to realize the tortillas are nearly dried, open the can of beans
  11. Pour them into a pan and add a small amount of water
  12. Smash them with a spoon or blend them
  13. As you heat them, and you see the beans are boiling taste the beans to make sure they are warm, in no longer than a few minutes would they be ready
  14. As you turn off the stove, grab a plate and display the fried tortillas
  15. Apply with a spoon the smashed or blended beans first on top of fried tortillas
  16. Apply small cut out portions of the meat you desire (Optional)
  17. Then, apply the small pieces of lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado
  18. After, sprinkle a dash of cheese
  19. Next, apply sour cream and salsa (Optional)
  20. Last, display the radishes at the center of the tostadas (Optional)

Chocolate Banana Milkshake

Chocolate Banana Milkshake
I chose to make this simple beverage because its been one of my favorite choices when having to buy from Mister Softee as a younger kid. Every time me and my cousins would play in the park and hear the ice-cream truck we would run to it and buy milkshakes. Up until now if I'm roaming the streets of New York and happen to come across a Mister Softee truck memories of my childhood would rush back. With this being said, after i started purchasing my own milkshakes and realized they are pretty expensive so I realized I could attempt to make my own.

Ingredients (Serving for 2 or 3)
(1). [2] Frozen Banana's
(2). Two cups filled 3/4 full of milk
(3). Blender
(4). Knife
(5). Chocolate Syrup (can also be chocolate bars)

Cooking Instructions
(1). Prepare the Banana's by peeling them
(2). Cut the Banana's into big chunks (as shown below)
(3). Place the Banana's in the Blender first to avoid splashing milk
(4). Pour both cups of Milk into the blender
(5). Pour the amount of chocolate wanted
(6). Turn on blender for about 10 seconds then turn off
(7). Pour into a cup (straw is optional)
(8). Pretend its a Mister Softee milkshake and Enjoy.
Optional.
If it didn't live up to your expectations I'm sorry for wasting your time and you may now go look for Mister Softee and purchase his milkshake.

Banana Shake

This is an ingredient for a refreshing drink which is not only nutritious but it requires minimal effort, (it tastes good too). My recipe doesn't need to be followed strictly as everyone can modify the drink to their liking. Personally I like to make it feel as artificial as possible without compromising nutrition. The  ingredients are as follows for an individual glass:

- 1/2 of a Banana, cut into fractions (you may want to use a funnel with a screen to avoid any pulp from peel)
- 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla ice cream
- 1 to 2 cups of milk
- 2 to 3 teaspoons of sugar
-1 ice cube crushed via spoon
*and if im in the mood ill toss in a tiny bit of peanut butter

Josh's Mac n' Cheese

I chose to create a new kind of macaroni with cheese dish from ingredients that I enjoy in separate foods, but thought they would work well together. I took the actual cheese sauce preparation from the way my mother showed me how she used to make it, but unlike my recipe, using sharp cheddar cheese. I thought that the textures and spice of the ingredients would work well together in the end. This recipe is made to serve a whole family for dinner, as a side dish with other food. I really enjoyed creating the recipe, and my friends and family who tried it enjoyed the distinct and new flavor to an old, well known American staple food, with a spicy kick!

Ingredients:
2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
2 cups medium shell pasta
3/4 cup white all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 small can of pickled jalapeño peppers
5-6 tbsp. breadcrumbs (any flavor/spices)
4 tbsp. butter
3 cups water

Cooking Instructions:
1. Combine 3 cups water with 2 cups of pasta in a large pot and set the stove to medium heat. Cook 10-15 minutes until pasta is cooked.
2. Place 4 tbsp. butter in a medium saucepan to melt and set the stove to low heat.
3. Mix together 1 1/2 cups of milk with 3/4 cup flour in a bowl and whisk until clumps disappear.
4. Pour mix into sauce pan containing melted butter and add 1 1/2 cups of shredded Monterey Jack cheese. Stir continuously until cheese is melted. Keep saucepan on lowest heat setting until the pasta is ready.
5. Drain pasta and return it to the pot. Slowly pour in the cheese-sauce mixture from the saucepan, mixing the pasta to coat it evenly.
6. Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Pour the coated pasta into a baking tray, approx. 2-3 inches deep. Then sprinkle 1/2 cup of cheese on top.
7. Slice a few pickled jalapeños into small pieces.
8. Garnish the pasta dish with a layer breadcrumbs on top of the shredded cheese and then add sliced jalapeños.
9. Bake for 20 minutes without a cover.
10. Serve and Enjoy!!!

Naleśniki

I chose naleśniki because it is a food that my mom has always made since I was a little girl. Naleśniki is the only food I was actually interested in making because I just don't like cooking. Naleśniki bring out so many good memories from childhood, they are usually eaten during "kolacja" which translates to dinner or supper but actually it is another meal, eaten often after dinner around night time. This was considered the "family time" since supper was eaten individually and in the early afternoon. Naleśniki don't have to be made with strawberries only, any other fruits or other ingredients such as cheese can be added inside. It is simple to make and very delicious !

Ingredients:
(1) oil
(2) milk
(3) egg
(4) flour
(5) sugar
(6) seltzer water
(7) strawberries
(8) whipped cream

Cooking instructions:
(1) Get all your ingredients and utensils you will need.
(2) Pour about 2 cups of flour,
1 cup of milk,
half a cup of seltzer water,
little bit of oil,
and 1 egg into a bowl or pan
*Mix together until its a pure liquid.
(3) Prepare your pan (heat it up).
(4) Pour the liquid onto the pan and make pancakes.
(5) Wash strawberries and cut off the green part (leaf and stem).
(6) Put the strawberries in a bowl and squish them.
*Don't forget to add some sugar.
(7) Pour some of the strawberries onto the pancake then roll the package up.
(8) Prepare your pan once again (heat up and add some oil).
(9) Place the naleśniki on the pan and heat them up until the outside turns a light brown.
(10) Add some whipped cream and YUM.
